Time To Get Serious: A PSA

Updated: Mar 16, 2022

It's been a min my lovelies! How's it going? Can you believe 2019 is almost over? Where the hell has the year gone?!

This post is a general update on the writing so far and how I'm managing (or not) to keep to the schedule I planned for this year. As you might have guessed, things have changed drastically from what I planned.

So, just what should you expect from me going forward for the rest of the year (and possibly for the foreseeable future)?

Let's get it!

CHANGING MY WRITING SCHEDULE

First off, as the heading says, I'm changing my writing schedule. What exactly does this mean? Simply put, my goal of writing and self-publishing three books this year is no longer possible.

For those who don't know, a few weeks ago I suffered from severe neck and back pain, which left me bedridden for an entire week. To this day, my back still hurts if I stretch it a certain way or remain perched on my writing desk for too long. As you can possibly guess, this has really affected my writing and productivity. Because of this, I've had to reduce the hours I write and take longer breaks so as not to worsen the pain.

To make matters even worse, when I planned to self-publish three books this year, I didn't account for - or rather, I downplayed how much work and effort and time will have to go into writing and preparing these books for publication, considering that I also want to remain active on Wattpad and Patreon as well.

Juggling these three priorities, I'm coming to find, was not a totally brilliant idea. It means my writing suffers, and I end up not producing for ANY of my goals on time.

This has made me come to the decision to put my self-publishing journey on pause, so I can make Wattpad and Patreon my priorities.

PATREON AND WATTPAD BECOMING MY TOP PRIORITIES, WRITING-WISE

From October and then on, I will be solely focusing on Patreon and Wattpad, with the former taking the most priority. I have so many original exclusive short and full-length stories I want to publish on Patreon, and these stories will be coming soon! I originally didn't treat Patreon with the gravity it deserves, considering it's - at the moment - my main and only source of income.

My hope is to find a rhythm with Patreon to create a reliable source of income and also grow honest and loyal supporters, so that when I decide to resume my publishing journey, I know not only folks will have my back, but I will be able to better afford the costs of self-publishing.

As for wattpad, I will be finishing any incomplete stories and working on the ones I took down for editing. The goal is to update weekly on wattpad, and since I will no longer be focusing so much energy on self-publishing, I should have more time to accomplish this goal.

TRANSFERRING SOME WATTPAD STORIES TO PATREON

Speaking of Wattpad and Patreon, I am planning to transfer some of my stories on Wattpad to Patreon! This is, of course, to increase my back list AND encourage new readers who might not know me from Wattpad to support me on Patreon.

At the moment, the stories I plan to transfer are FISH OUT OF WATER and LOVE OF A WOMAN. If you haven't read these stories but are interested in doing so, then now is your time! By Saturday the 19TH of this month, I will be moving these stories to the POPULAR ($3) TIER of my Patreon, where they will remain permanently.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!

As always, thank you all for your continuous unwavering support. I don't know where I'll be without you, and I hope you continue to support me in my new journey!

Until next time,

~Vee.
